    REGISTRATION OPENS APRIL 28th!

first 12 to sign up are in!

    RULES:

    • Bring your own supplies.  16 x 20 stretched canvases will be provided (courtesy of our sponsor Blick art materials). You are welcome to bring in your own paper for watercolor or pastel work.  All substrates must be entirely free of any marks, sketches, stains, etc.   You are welcome to pre-gesso a canvas as long as it remains pure white with no other marks.
    • any methods are allowed besides spraying, pouring, flinging, or other potentially damaging methods of using materials that might dirty the gallery space, floors, or art being displayed on the walls or cause too many aromatic fumes to saturate the space.  (collage, oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal, pencils, pens, markers, inks, watercolors, are all fine!).  If you use aromatic fluids to clean or thin your paint please keep it in a sealable container, with a lid over the fluids, when not in immediate use to reduce fumes.
    • Participating artists' work must remain in the room for the entirety of the hour.
    • All artists are given one full hour to complete their artwork and must drop all brushes, pencils, and/or pastels when prompted to.
    • Artists are given the option to auction their finished pieces directly after the competition (MCAC earns 30% of all sales to go towards future events)  You do not have to auction your work.
    • The audience will then vote for their three favorite artists (one vote per competitor- spread the love)
    • Prizes are awarded to the top 3 artists with the most votes!  Ties are broken by curator and Director votes.  In the event that first or second place ties the tie breaking vote will establish the winner and the remaining placements will all shift down (eg. Two people tie for 1st place: one will be awarded 1st and the second becomes 2nd place.  The artist that was previously 2nd place moves down to 3rd.)

    VIEWERS VOTE!

(votes are numbered and must be used one per unique contestant. Duplicate votes per contestant will be counted as one total vote. (eg. if that number appears multiple times within the same artists bowl all multiples will be ignored and one vote will be allotted to that artist. Please vote for a different artist with each vote!)

Donations go towards prizes, and funding future art challenges.

    Your generosity is appreciated!

    Participation is FREE!

Why capturing natural looking images of people is harder than you think.

We’ve all done it. There’s this magical moment where someone has just the right expression on their face or a sweet, happy, loving moment is taking place. You want to capture it. You grab your camera and snap. But, when you look at the back of the camera it’s not what you saw. It doesn’t look right. It doesn’t look natural. Pamela will spend an evening with us talking abou how our perception of the world is very different than the perception of cameras. We will go over different ways that we can make adjustments to reconcile the two.

    PH-4 Photo Organization in Lightroom

    Thursday, 2 Sessions

    August 21, 28;

    6:30-8:30pm

    Fee: $50 (Non Member)

    Some Experience Preferred

As photographers we love to shoot photos.  But what do we do with them?  Which ones do we keep? And most importantly - How in the world do I find that one photo I took a few years back?

We will be working with Lightroom Classic to organize our photos.   Using hands-on exercises, I’m going to explain to you where I store my photos on my hard drive and how I get them there. I’ll show you how I use the rating stars and colors to select what to keep and what to delete, allowing me to cull my images very quickly. I’ll explain the keyword hierarchy I use, making key-wording easy and allows for quick image retrieval.

My goal will be to give you as many tips and tricks as possible along the way, so that when you leave you’ll be ready to use my system or devise one of your own.

    What to bring:

You will need to bring a Laptop with the most current version of Lightroom Classic already loaded on it.  Many of the ideas, but maybe not all, will transfer to use in Lightroom, Lightroom Mobile and older versions of Lightroom Classic.  But, if you want to follow along you will need the most current version of Lightroom Classic on a laptop.

To follow along you will also need to bring approximately 100 photos on a Flash drive. Please make these JPG files (not RAW) to save class time.  There must be at least 3 different types of photos (animals, people, buildings, landscapes, etc) AND they must be from at least 3 different locations and dates.

    _____________________________________________________________

If you’re not already using the most current version of Lightroom Classic…..

You can get a free 7 day Trial.

READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY Go to the link below and download the free trial for the $19.99 a month - 1T Lightroom and Photoshop plan. Then download Lightroom Classic onto your laptop before coming to class. I suggest that you don’t do this until the day before the class so you have a few days of use before the trial is over.

Once the class is over you can either keep it, cancel it or switch to the $9.99 a month - 20gb plan that I use.

DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT download the Lightroom only plan.  It does not contain Lightroom Classic.
