Stephen Cartwright creates sculpture from statistical data he collects about geography, distance, or elevation relative to his physical body. “While some of my prior works have used actual topographical data, this new series of works translates a series of data sets into fictional landscapes. Mesh 1 and Mesh 2 are based on running and cycling average mileage over the course of several years.” Cartwright is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and exhibits his work nationally.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
