Setting up a Basic Home Ceramics Studio with Shelly Challans

Sunday, 1 session

Oct 11
1-5 PM

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to make more pottery in your own home? Perhaps small hand-built projects or just some finishing work in the evenings to relax. Especially as the winter months approach knowing how to build a creative space within your home is important. This one-day class will cover the basics of setting up a low- cost, low-tech home studio space. Topics such as tools and alternatives, cleaning, surfaces, clay management, water management and transportation of greenware will be covered.

Please note this is NOT intended to be a comprehensive studio start-up course including kiln usage. This is only for the establishment of basic home clay work to be transported elsewhere for completion/firing.

Does not include a shelf at the MCAC and access to open studio hours. Guest registration allowed for this option.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
