Enamel and Metals Open Studio with Nisa Blackmon

Monday, 6 sessions

June 20, 27, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24

6:30 - 9:30 PM

This six-session event will provide supervised work time for students who have completed basic introductory enameling and metals courses at MCAC or other institutions. Students will work on their own projects using any enameling or metals/jewelry techniques and materials in which they have been trained. Nisa will be present each night for guidance and problem-solving, but no formal instruction or lectures will be scheduled except for orientation on the first night.

Completion of any of the following MCAC 5- or 6-week classes is required for enrollment: Introduction to Enamels, Introduction to Liquid Enamels, Piercing & Patination or Micro-Collage Jewelry.

Or if you have had training in basic metals or enamels elsewhere, please contact the instructor (nisablackmon@gmail.com) for permission to enroll.

Enrollment in this class gives students access to basic enameling and metalworking tools and supplies, the kiln, shelf space, and our library of enamels. Some metals and pre-enameled steel sheet will be provided and other selected materials will be available for purchase. Students are welcome to bring their own tools and supplies as well, and are encouraged to begin building their own palette of enamels. The instructor will be happy to guide them in making their first purchases of enamels and metals if they choose.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
