Join instructor Erin Furimsky for this four-week ceramics course. This class is great for those with no ceramic experience to learn the basics of hand building ceramics. (Pinch work, slab and coil techniques) Each night a new project in hand building for beginner to intermediate.

We will learn to make 3 forms all focused on holding a certain object; a sponge holder, a ring/jewelry holder, and cooking help (a spoon rest and tiny bowls for holding herbs when cooking). On the last day, we will be glazing our creations.

Enrollment in this class provides access to MCAC's kilns and our full range of ceramic glazes, plus tools and 10lbs of clay. Enrolled students may also work on their own during open studio hours, at no additional charge.

Class size is limited to eight to allow for individual instruction time. Student work is fired on-site by our ceramics studio assistant, allowing everyone to take home finished pieces.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
