In this six week class, students should expect to learn the basics of facial construction, develop drawing and painting techniques, and have fun practicing the art of portraiture! MCAC Instructor, Billie Jean Hill will demonstrate useful methods from gridding to underpainting, working from photography and life. Students will learn to troubleshoot common stumbling blocks that may impede their progress in an encouraging environment as they grow valuable skills to create realistic portraits.
Supplemental drawing assignments outside of class will augment student’s progress and assist Billie in determining student’s needs. Students should expect to complete three finished portraits over the course of this class. All necessary supplies will be provided by the art center, however students are encouraged to bring whatever tools they feel most comfortable using if they already paint at home.
*All materials are provided: paints, brushes, painting surfaces, palettes, knives, etc.
