Sometimes tackling the surface of a pot can be daunting. Erin Furimsky will help you to expand your options and understanding of what the ceramic surface can be. In this three-part, workshop-based class you’ll find new and exciting ways to transfer imagery, color, pattern, texture, and glaze without breaking a sweat! There are endless possibilities for decorating pottery, from the forming stage on through the glazing, and beyond. Participants will leave the class sessions with a myriad of new techniques explored on flat tiles. Each week a number of new processes will be demonstrated, such as, paper stencils, stamping, Mishima, sgraffito, underglaze trailing, water etching, image transfer, layering glazes, and decals. A basic understanding of clay and glaze are required.

Class size is limited to eight to allow for individual instruction time. Early registration is encouraged; seats typically sell out in advance. Student work is fired on-site by our ceramics studio assistant, allowing everyone to take home finished pieces.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
