Artist Reception: Friday, March 1, 5-7pm

Artist Statement:

Art, irrespective of the medium it is represented in, has always been a source of inspiration to me. It helps me express the beauty of nature and the culture in which I have been raised. I have experimented with different mediums, including oils, acrylics, water, pen and ink- each work a learning experience.

Despite being born and raised in the busy city of Mumbai, India, my parents imbibed in me our culture which belongs to the Southern Indian state, Kerala. I fondly remember spending the summers with my grandparents, walking over rice fields, visiting temples and watching elephants who visited during our festivals. Mumbai, being an extremely diverse city, also exposed me to different cultures, languages and art forms. This inspired me to try out some of the unique folk-art styles from different regions in our country which involve a lot of intricate details.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
