The McLean County Arts Center presents Nate Mathews photography exhibition Nuclear Tourism in the Armstrong Gallery from April 28 through June 17, 2017. The free and public Artist Reception will be on Friday, May 5, 5 - 7 pm.

Nate Mathews presents a body of work that documents a state of mind of the American society. During the 1950’s the U.S. government built facilities with the purpose of being prepared for the cold war. These massive bunkers, silos for ballistic missiles, and national communication networks are subjects containing a precise aesthetic worthy of being admired. By allowing his work to highlight both the beauty and the dark potential purposes of his subject matter, Mathews’ photographs step beyond the pure documentation proposing as many questions as answers.

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
