In this two session workshop students will slab build a pitcher with a strong profile and rich narrative surface. Ceramics has a long history of telling a visual story on its surface and we will embrace this as you paint, draw, and carve into your vessel. The first session will focus on designing and building a pitcher with slab construction. The pieces will be cut and altered in sections and students will learn how to incorporate spouts, handles, and feet into the form. During the second session finishing touches of the construction will occur, and the focus will shift to generating a 2D surface with underglazes. The 3D form will be enhanced as makers incorporate a narrative component.
All materials including clay, glazes, tools and kiln firings included in fee.
