Temari is a decorative folk art from Japan, used in the past to make toys. Nowadays, Temari is used not only for toys, but for beautiful gifts and decorations.
Participants in this three-week course will learn to make Temari balls by wrapping a core of scrap material with thread. After marking the wrapped ball with stitching guidelines, each person will stitch their chosen pattern(s). Instructor Heather Evert will demonstrate a variety of embroidery stitches, as well as multiple methods of designing further Temari patterns at home. Heather is certified by the Japan Temari Association.
