Stay Home Art Challenge, Day 24

Recycled Art Challenge

With Earth Day right around the corner, we thought it would be fun to create some art with stuff you might be about to toss in the recycling bin. We took some inspiration from Lexington local Kasey Wells’ Elephant In The Room sculpture. Kasey constructed the entire form from recycled parts welded onto an old fuel tank. He turned garbage into award winning art that has traveled around the country and been a conversation starter for environmental issues.

So you might not have hubcaps and exhaust pipes but I wonder what you do have in the recycle bin or garbage? We made this warthog out of a couple cans, some toilet paper holders and plastic, all pieces from the garbage. So use that imagination and create an ANIMAL out of stuff you would normally throw away. (PS… a hot glue gun came in handy.)

Please submit your entries by Friday, April 17th at 5:00pm by emailing us a picture of your creature at info@mcac.org We can’t wait to see what you create!
