“Dr. Cindy Lawson-Kester retired from ISU as Assistant Chair of Special Education in 2009. She began studying art in 2012, initially oil painting with a group of local plein air artists who encouraged her to continue and shared their knowledge. Since that time she has participated in many classes and workshops across the country and in London and France and engages in self-study and almost daily painting. In 2013 she was an original founder of Inside Out: Accessible Art, an active artist cooperative in Bloomington, Illinois. She offers art there as well as in Main Gallery 404, also in Bloomington, and in Venice Art Center in Florida. Cindy is active in local art organizations in Bloomington/Normal as well as in the Sarasota/Venice Florida area.
Currently Cindy paints in oils en plein air as well as in her home studios, inspired by her original photography, and also uses acrylics, watercolor or a mix of mediums. She also provides instruction to those new to painting.”
