Zines for Beginners

Teens & Adults

Monday, April 3, 2017

 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Just what IS a zine? Pronounced "zeen," a zine is a self-published miniature magazine, usually photocopied. A quick Google search will prove that there are zines on just about any topic you can imagine! Instructor Karen Heeringa says, "Your life is more interesting than you think. Creating a zine is a way to find out how your life is unique, giving you a chance to share your stories." Karen has been making and collecting zines for 15 years.

Participants in this workshop will work with collage materials, old magazines, markers, glue, and stamps to begin creating content for their own zines. All materials are provided, but please feel free to bring writing and inspiring collage items from home, too. Zines will make your life ten times more interesting!

**This workshop will take place at the Normal Public Library.**

Mission Statement: We encourage and promote the appreciation, study, cultivation, development, and practice of art for the benefit of all the people, cultures and communities of McLean County.
